What are the certification levels of Gas Technician?

There are 3 levels of licensed Gas Technician.
Gas Technician 3: Entry
Gas Technician 2: Intermediate
Gas Technician 1: Advanced

How long is each program?

Our programs vary in length depending on which schedule you choose.
Gas Technician 3: Days-1 month, Nights-3.5 months
Gas Technician 2: Days- 3 months, Nights- 8.5 months
Gas Technician 1: Nights- 4.5 months (only offered as a night program)
GGAP: Nights- 2 months (only offered as a night program)
Residential AC: Days-2 months (only offered as a day program)

 

What are the hours of the courses?

Day courses run Monday-Friday 9am-430pm
Night courses run Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 6pm-10pm
This schedule can change when necessary, if so, you will be notified upon registration.

What is the attendance policy?

Per our policy and TSSA requirements, there is a minimum of 80% attendance for theory classes, and 100% attendance for practical classes.

What are the prerequisites for your courses?

Prerequisites vary depending on the course you are taking. Please see below:
Residential AC: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Gas Technician 3 (G3): High School Diploma or Equivalent
Gas Technician 2 (G2): Valid Gas Technician 3 License
Gas Technician 1 (G1): Valid Gas Technician 2 License, 3500 documented hours working as a G2, and 500 documented hours working on equipment 400 000 btuh or higher OR successfully completing a GGAP course at an accredited training provider.
GGAP: Valid Gas Technician 2 License, and 3500 documented hours working as a G2. 

Do I need field experience to take your courses?

Gas Technician 3 and 2 courses do not require field experience. If you meet the course prerequisites, you are eligible to register.
Gas Technician 1 requires 3500 documented hours working as a Gas Technician 2 and 500 documented hours working on equipment 400 000 btuh or more signed off by a G1 license holder OR 3500 documented hours working as a Gas Technician 2 and having taken a GGAP course from an accredited training provider.

Do I get a license after completing your course?

Upon completion of our Gas Technician courses, you will receive a certificate. If you pass your TSSA licensing exam, you will receive the corresponding license.
 

What is the GGAP Course?

The GGAP course is designed for G2 Gas Technicians who want to obtain their G1 license but do not have the 500 documented hours working on equipment 400 000 btuh or more. This program is 100% practical and gives students the experience required to take the Gas Technician 1 course.
3500 documented hours working as a Gas Technician 2 is still required to take this course.

What are the requirements for the GGAP course?

To be eligible to take the GGAP course, you must have 3500 documented hours working as a Gas Technician 2.

What are the requirements for the G1 course?

A valid Gas Technician 2 License, 3500 documented hours working as a Gas Technician 2 and 500 documented hours working on equipment 400 000 btuh or more signed off by a G1 license holder OR 3500 documented hours working as a Gas Technician 2 and having taken a GGAP course from an accredited training provider.

What if I want to get my G1 but I don’t have field experience working on equipment over 400 000 btuh?

The GGAP course is designed for G2 Gas Technicians who want to obtain their G1 license but do not have the 500 documented hours working on equipment 400 000 btuh or more. This program is 100% practical and gives students the experience required to take the Gas Technician 1 course. You must have 3500 documented hours working as a Gas Technician 2 to register for this course.

Do you offer Financial Assistance?

Currently, we do not offer financial assistance. There are programs that many of our students are funded through to attend our classes. For more information, please contact our admissions office.
